Module One  – 1 Day Course

 

The yacht industry is a unique work environment.  Fun and fabulous but also frenetic with no work decompression space.  This course is your essential springboard to a successful career in yachting, offering the insights and know-how needed to be savvy and prepared for your life working aboard.

Green crew first year, STCW Candidates, New Intake.

Objectives

  • Equip students with current research and data
  • Understand Contracts and NDA’s
  • Understand Hierarchical Structure and how to use and develop within it.
  • Knowledge of the reality of Crew Life
  • Understand the current theory of Management and leadership and its application on board.
  • Begin a reflective journal practice in order to integrate learning and develop new skills.
  • Understand a Feedback Culture

Module One Mentoring

 

Mentoring is a key tenant of your Continued Professional Development.  Offering a flexible but structured approach, mentoring allows you to apply and refine your classroom skills with the freedom to learn around your busy schedule.

Audience

Green crew first year, STCW Candidates, New Intake.

Objectives

To integrate knowledge and theories from Classroom Module one. To provide space for discussion and implementation and provide positive affiliation.

Duration

11 x 1 hour sessions to be taken in the first year. hr.  Ad hoc sessions available if necessary

Phone, Zoom, Skype or in Person either onbaord or at one of our traing facilities.

Key Elements

A personalised and supported one to one online learning experience providing a positive forum for personal reflection and applied learning integration.

Module Two  – 1 Day Course

In stressing the crew safety – both physical and psychological – HELM’s revised guidance is setting clear markers for the importance of creating happy, healthy and functional onboard work environments.  This course explores the practical implementation of HELM’s objectives in a contemporary yacht industry setting.

Working within HELM’s emerging regulatory framework, Crew Solutions training and mentoring leadership support provide the structured feedback, reflective learning and one-to-one dedicated support that will help you to successfully navigate change and disruption as you lead the transformation to more balanced and dynamic onboard working cultures.
